We are absolutely delighted to welcome you to the 6th Taranaki Fringe Garden Festival, A garden Festival like no other. This festival brings together an amazing array of experiences from small to large gardens, toart displays, to tools and machines of yesteryear. As you read through this brochure I think you will find thatthere is something to appeal to everyone.

Whether you are travelling into Taranaki or wake up in the province, you are in a place that must truly be the garden of New Zealand. As I move around the province I constantly marvel at the range of conditions our gardeners deal with from sub alpine to coastal, facing Sub Antarctic winds, to sub tropical. The landscape is shaped by the mighty upheavals of our Maunga, Taranaki, who influences us each and everyday. When you travel into or leave Taranaki take time to consider the enormous engineering tasks that faced those early roading engineers and still provide problems to this day but also enjoy the beautiful travel experience. It is said that gardening builds character and gardens build characters. The gardeners, artists and sheddies that bring you this festival are all beautiful characters with stories to share.
